Today, McDonald's chain of restaurants are world-wide market leader. Now there are more than 1,361 branches with approx. 60,000 employees. A huge rainwater attentuation as well as an intelligent rainwater harvesting system has been installed at the newly opened branch in Dortmund, Kleyer Weg. The rainwater is purified on a part of the roof area in a 10 m³ - concrete cistern with PURAIN Filter DN150 and stored for flushing the toilets. A double pumping system was required in order to ensure supply. The optimum solution: RAINMASTER Favorite Duplex - two high quality rainwater treatment plants with speed control and Bluetooth control. This means, a significant reduction in power consumption and noise reduction, a significantly higher life span and best operating safety with capacity.

Since 2009 there has been an adventure park at Nürburgring which offers its visitors several attractions related to motor sports. The main building is a multifunctional sheltered arena. It can accommodate up to 5,200 seats for conferences, vehicle presentations, exhibitions, concerts and sports events. However, below the arena area, a 250 m³ concrete tank is installed for rainwater collection specifically for the purpose of flushing the building‘s toilets. Kronthal School, in the center of Kronberg, is a primary school with a preparatory class.  It was named after Kronthal, the  recreational area of the city. In the new building at the old site an INTEWA rainwater harvesting system was installed, along with a PURAIN filter DN300, for flushing the toilets and urinals, as well as for the irrigation of gardens on the school grounds. Having access to excellent quality, filtered rainwater saves the school money while teaching children how to save natural resources.

Tengelmann in Mülheim an der Ruhr, set up a sustainable and energy saving branch, in a record time of just eight weeks, as a model for possible implementation across their retail network. Here, rainwater is saved and filtered with a PURAIN filter DN200, and used for a special purpose: In summer, rainwater is regularly sprayed on the cooling fins of a CO2 system. In turn, the CO2 system keeps all their freezers cold. A main advantage in using this system – the soft rain water saves on the cost of expensive water softening.
