Rainwater installations have great energy-saving potential
There are approximately 1.5 million rainwater installations in operation in Germany. They make it possible to save some 82.5 million cbm of drinking water annually. But these installations need electricity: It is estimated that 132 gigawatt hours (GWh) are needed to operate them. With the planned European Eco-design Directive for energy-using products (EuP), manufacturers will be required to improve the energy efficiency of their products. Even today, rainwater installations could use substantially less energy; because the rotary pump usually built into these installations produces 900W. The new INTEWA RAINMASTER ECO is fitted with a 90 W diaphragm pump. It is optimally tuned for the typical consumption in a single-family dwelling, with a washing machine, WC, garden hose or pressure washer.
